(It was hot as h-e-double toothpicks, as we used to say when I was a kid.) Anyway, we visited all three of the John Day Fossil Bed monument sites and also encountered the name of Thomas Condon. He was a most impressive and admirable figure, and I just downloaded a copy of his book "The Two Islands" from Google.
